Why our steam rooms stay dry behind the tile
Steam rooms usually fail in one of two ways: mold growing inside the wall cavity, or a flat ceiling that drips cold water down your neck. Both trace back to shortcuts during the build. As a professional sauna builder licensed for general building work, we handle framing, membrane and tile under one contract and test the pan before any tile goes down.

Rough plumbing and wiring
Supply line, drain, a dedicated circuit and the steam pipe go in, and the city inspects the rough work.
Membrane and flood test
Backer board and a bonded waterproof membrane cover every surface, and the pan holds standing water for a day before tile starts.
Tile, glass and commissioning
Tile and a vapor-proof glass door go in, the generator is connected, and we run a full cycle to check heat, drainage and controls.
Layers that keep the water in
Every layer in a steam room has one job, which is keeping water where it belongs.
Walls, ceiling and floor
Cement board or foam board, a bonded membrane, then tile or stone. The floor falls toward the drain, and radiant floor heat keeps bare feet happy on cold mornings.
Ventilation and doors
Vapor-tight glass doors with a transom or operable panel, and an exhaust fan outside the enclosure that clears the bathroom once the session ends.
Benches
Tiled or solid-surface seats, built in or folding, set high enough to keep you in the warmest layer of air. We slope the seat slightly so water runs off.
Controls, lighting and speakers
Digital controls with presets inside and outside the enclosure, sealed LED lighting, and waterproof speakers wired into the ceiling.
Oil diffusers
An aromatherapy reservoir or pump beside the steam head releases eucalyptus or another oil into the vapor during each session.
